Durrie Tax Is Giving Me Cancer

To my fellow smokers out there, I'm sure that your well aware (probably pissed off) about the increasing cigarette tax that the government is imposing. Let's explore this issue and see who is really benefiting and who is losing. First of all, why would the government want to tax our durries? The easy answer is money. Originally in 1965 the federal rates of importing tobacco were $4.94 a kilo which has now risen to $763.20 a kilo in september 2016. Now you sceptics out there may scream inflation but lets be realistic we are getting screwed. The justification for this tax is loosely the dangers of smoking and hey you know what the government should be weary of this. Smoking around schools being banned, making cigarette packets look like a horror film is stuff that I can cope with but the price is not. Mainly because it is just going to where ever the government chooses. If parliament actually gave a fuck about the health of Australian citizens how about using a reinvestment scheme. Using the funds from the tax to thus supply unhealthy smokers with the health care they need. Another reason the tax is bad is because of the growing population in the world. Essentially this is dark but true, we need more people to die. With growing population, growing infrastructure, industry we are killing the earth with such things as global warming, overfishing among other things that I'm not going into as this is about Durries. If we allow more people to smoke or make it more accessible for people to smoke we will be one step forward in ensuring that the overpopulation issue is combated. So far the political justifications which are essentially money and false claims of caring (surprise, surprise) and the gobal implications have been explored but now lets switch the lens to me and you. Everyday losers that just want the freedom to do what we want without being screwed. To be honest my shitty little rant is not going to change anything so lets see what we can do to deal with this. There has probably been multiple times where you say to your friends "back in the golden days a port royal pouch was only $20" sounding like your dad reminiscing on his failing rugby career. But that's not the case anymore it's hard to buy a pouch with all the kit under $30 and if your not smoking pouches, you're a rich asshole, stop reading this and get the fuck off my blog and go buy a $6 cup of coffee with your ray bans on. Now to make this clear there is no shame in buying a Choice or Rothmans pouch, sure we all want to smoke the good stuff but it's just too damn expensive. And when you think about it every dollar you save is worth it. It's like a durrie card when each time you go to the tobacco station they punch a hole in your ticket and after about 8 times you get a free pouch. So it's the way to go. Also try to avoid giving out cigarettes especially to randoms when your drunk, sure that use to be okay. But would you buy a random a free drink, no. Unless they are hot as hell and you want to get in there pants. Let me reiterate only give cigarettes to people you want to get with. And if they can't roll you don't want them anyway (ain't got time for that). So there is my little bit of advice to get you through the daily struggle, keep smoking and keep in there you can do it. When times get tough do you give up, did your mum raise you a quitter. I say hell no.
